House of Champions 
After School Program

Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where young people can learn the art and discipline of boxing.

 

Through structured training, mentorship, and character-building activities, we aim to inspire youth to reach their full potential both in and out of the ring, instilling values of respect, perseverance, and teamwork.

Program Overview:
The House of Champions (HOC) Afterschool Program offers middle school and high school
students a unique opportunity to combine academic support, in the form of written
expression, with physical fitness through boxing. This program is designed to help students
build self-discipline and develop mental and physical resilience. Mostly, the HOC
afterschool program can empower students, preparing them to be true champions in all
aspects of life.
The House of Champions After-School Program is committed to developing well-rounded
student-athletes by fostering discipline, teamwork, and encourage academic excellence.
Our goal is to provide a safe and structured environment where students can grow
physically, mentally, and emotionally through the sport of boxing.

Objectives

  • To promote academic responsibility, alongside athletic development.

  • To instill discipline, respect, and perseverance in all student-athletes.

  • To create a positive and supportive environment for personal growth.

  • To prepare students for competitive boxing while prioritizing safety and sportsmanship.

Program Schedule

3:45 PM - 4:00 PM

Arrival and Snack Time

Students check in, have a healthy snack, and relax before activities begin.

4:00 PM - 4:15 PM

Empowerment and Expression

One-on-one and small group assistance with written expression (weekly journal writing).
And/Or
Motivation/Group discussion led by a mentor or coach on topics like goal-setting,
perseverance, and self-confidence.

4:15 PM - 5:15 PM

Boxing and Fitness Training (B.A.D. Method)

Warm-up: Stretching, jumping rope, and calisthenics.
Boxing Skills: Techniques, drills, and sparring (non-contact). The course teaches offensive
and defensive skills of amateur boxing and exposes participants to the coping strategies
necessary to deal with a physical threat. It includes stances, movement, basic punches
(i.e., jab, cross, hook, and uppercut), defenses, strategies, and tactics. Instruction on
refereeing, judging, and serving as a corner second are presented. Boxers are evaluated
and assessed, and feedback on their skills is provided.
Conditioning: Strength and endurance exercises.

5:15 PM - 5:30 PM

Cooldown: Stretching and Mindfulness Activities
